A good telescope for the beginning astronomer is the reflector telescope, which was invented by newton in the 17th century. The reflector telescope gathers light through multiple mirrors, hence the name “reflecting”. They are commonly a little bit less expensive than the refractor telescopes, but then again it all depends on how big and quality of a telescope you are using. These telescopes are great for viewing distant objects like constellations and other galaxies, due to the design of the light gathering.
